Ashok Leyland has introduced its highly anticipated multi-axle bus chassis, the Ashok Leyland Garud, at the ‘M&HCV Expo’ in Bengaluru. Although the official launch has yet to be announced, the prototype of the 15-meter chassis has been showcased.
Designed for high-speed intercity travel, the Ashok Leyland 15-meter chassis features a robust build with an overall length of 14,765 mm and a GVW of 22,500 kg. It offers enhanced salon space and supports up to 42 sleeper berths or 60 push-back seats.
The chassis is powered by an A-Series 4-cylinder engine with i-Gen6 technology for improved fuel efficiency. It includes options for full-air suspension with an anti-roll bar and an electromagnetic retarder for a smooth ride.
Available in two variants — Front Rubber Ended Parabolic with Rear Air Suspension, and Fully Air Suspension — it provides a 40% increase in passenger capacity over a conventional 12-meter chassis and a 16% increase compared to the 13.5-meter model.
This new multi-axle chassis not only enhances passenger comfort but also boosts revenue potential for operators by maximizing capacity.
