The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is set to relaunch its interstate bus services, bringing a long-awaited change after 23 years. The new service will connect Delhi with key cities in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and even Bengaluru, with plans to serve popular destinations like Kota.
DTC recently received approval to operate premium buses on these routes, which will include both electric buses for shorter distances (up to 200 km) and BS-6 diesel buses for longer journeys.
The fleet will feature luxury buses equipped with modern amenities, including app-based ticketing, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, and panic buttons for enhanced safety. This move is part of DTC’s strategy to encourage more people to choose public transport for intercity travel.
DTC had previously operated interstate buses until 2004, but the services were discontinued at that time. The relaunch is aimed at improving connectivity and promoting sustainable, eco-friendly travel options for commuters.
